2010 The Year in retrospect

JANUARY
Aunty Kim was in strict rehab from her shoulder injury in NZ….however, we still managed to have a fantastic climb of Mt Eerwah on Australia Day – it’s amazing what you can do with one arm!
FEBRUARY
We celebrated Aunty Jan’s 50th birthday with an exciting adventure – and then of course had a great celebration afterwards as well.  Our Tri Juniors excelled themselves at the Schools State Tri Champs – we were very proud of their efforts!
MARCH
Kathmandu Adventure Race – Had a great time introducing Scott and Hayley to the joys of adventure racing…and we took out the Female category….not bad for a novice and a vintage!  Also our Bribie Multisport Training Weekend was a hoot – especially as we met the Coffs girls – who made the trip up for the weekend and had a great time with us in the mud…. J
APRIL
Our 3-day Easter Adventure was enjoyed by lots of Tri Adventure regulars…. Bribie Multisport was another highlight this month – this was the start of a 5-week block of events – lucky Kim had her shoulder back intact.  We followed Bribie with Anaconda NZ – what an amazing event – especially as Aunty Kim took 1st place and sealed her Series win with this one!
MAY
Back from NZ – we loaded up the car and did the big road trip to Forster for the finale of the Series.  Backing up from the last 2 events was not easy – and we ended up racing together and having a great time on the 2nd day….  Then we headed out to Alice Springs for the Mtb Enduro – this is a fantastic week, if you are thinking of going – do it!  Back from Alice – we had one last event – an 8hr Adventure Race near Mt Warning – we raced together and were surprised to take the win again…. J
JUNE
A bit of recovery this month – we did hold our David Williamson Memorial Night Nav session though!
JULY
Started off at the Gold Coast cleaning up the Anaconda run & bike course and held our Unofficial Training Day. After the cancellation of the Noosa Enduro we decided to do it anyway – and had a fantastic turnout with some legends of multisport and adventure racing coming out of the woodwork for the morning….. Aunty Kim ran King of the Mtn and took out 2nd place for the second year running – but blitzed her time from recent years – how does she do it? Must be those quads….
AUGUST
We raced solo at Dusk to Dawn – it was freezing and Aunty Jan suffered the cold badly – it wasn’t looking good for the 24hr World champs in Canberra after this one!  Richard, Howie & Kim seemed to cope better – maybe they just went faster….???   Next weekend was the Cyclegaine at Hiddenvale….we raced with our respective Vanuatu partners…. Aunty Jan & Ali only meeting for the first time at this one… We attended and helped out at the Anaconda Famil Day in mid August….. Then we were off to the inaugural Vanuatu Adventure Race…what an interesting event…..very different from the AR’s over here.  With the Vanuatu culture mixed into the normal format it was always going to be ‘out of the square’….. Pity we missed Geoquest this month – but we’ll be back there again next year, for sure!
SEPTEMBER
Backing up from Vanuatu, Aunty Kim took out her 2nd Gold Coast Anaconda win….and we had the greatest weekend with ‘wins’ all round J J  We also took the trip out to Passchendaele for the 15hr Rogaine which was a great test for our Nav skills.
OCTOBER
The Rogue 8hr Adventuregaine was on the first weekend….Aunty Jan teamed up with Susie Blissner – our first outing as the Vintage Femmes….  Next up was the World 24hr Solo Mtb Champs in Canberra.  What an amazing event to be part of – 20km laps, so no boredom there!  Aunty Jan – assisted by PCM Aunty Kim, rode her way into 1st place for the 50-54 females….and then managed to back up the next weekend for Hells Bells…..racing with vintage mates, Susie & Glen.  Aunty Kim raced with MD’s and after some confusion on the last mtb came in 3rd overall.  Our Tri Adventure girls took out the female category in Fairy Bells – way to go Hayley, Ant & Miss Jane!
NOVEMBER
Noosa Tri weekend is always huge.  Besides only spectating the main event – we participated in much social activity with friends and acquaintances who flock to this event annually…. Our Juniors also excelled themselves in their events this weekend!
DECEMBERLorne Anaconda – and it’s always beautiful down there… After a huge year, Aunty Kim took 3rd place, Aunty Jan 1st Vintage and Hayley completed the most gruelling event of her life…..and we finished off the year with a Splash & Dash and BBQ down at Noosa Main Beach!  It was a lovely evening and we enjoyed your great company as we have all year….

Thanks so much for being a part of Tri Adventure this year.  We hope to see you all back next year for some more fantastic adventures….
